The James C. Ramey Sr., Bulldog Athletic Training Center and Complex

Purpose: To build an athletic training facility that will promote the athletic and educational development of our male and female scholar athletes through health and wellness training.

Objectives:
Build an athletic training facility that will:
(a)  house our men’s locker rooms
(b)  that will house our multi-sport, multi-gender, weight room workout facility
(c)  that will house a locker room for girls athletic programs
(d) that will house an alumni lounge/ classroom and terrace
(e) renovate and expand public restrooms

Improve and expand existing sports complex to include:

(a)  expanded field size and resurface with Bermuda grass.
(b)  move field drains away from the field to improve safety for sports participants.
(c)  renovate current football field house for wrestling and soccer programs.
(d)  expansion of restroom facilities and concessions at sports complex.

Note: It is very important to the Tazewell Athletic Foundation to partner with local firms and agencies for design and build of this project. We believe that the community of Tazewell must benefit in every aspect of this project.

We will build this project within the guidelines of the Public-Private Educations Facilities and Infrastructure Act of 2002.  As per the PPEA guidelines, upon completion of the project the facilities will be given to the Tazewell School Board for occupation and all future maintenance. The facility will be designed in accordance with all applicable codes including the ADA.

Measuring Project Success

1-Will be measured by the completion of the safety and security measures of widening and moving the drainage of the field playing surface. 2-Will be measured by the completion of the Bulldog Athletic Training Center and successfully turning it over to the TCSB.
3-Will be measured by adding handicapped restrooms and increasing restroom space at athletic complex.
4-Will be measured by renovation of current football locker room for wrestling and soccer programs.
5- Will be measured by successfully implementing health and wellness training in physical education classes.
6- Will be measured by increased health and wellness of students and athletes of Tazewell High School.
7-Will be measured by continued ongoing support by The Tazewell Athletic Foundation to promote and support healthy lifestyles of our students at Tazewell High School.

Second Floor:
The Bulldog Athletic Training Center is situated in the Heart of the THS and TES Campus. Enter through the main entrance to this multi-sport training center through the Hall of Fame vestibule. Immediately as you walk throughout the second doorway, your eyes widen to the state of the art weight room and aerobic areas which are the heart of facility. This area also include men’s and women’s rest rooms and storage closet. From the weight room you can look through the windows on both ends of the second floor onto the softball field, multi-sport practice fields as well as the track and field facilities and football/soccer game field. Make your way throughout the big double doors onto the terrace. The unbelievable views of the mountains and the sunset make this the best seat in the house for watching games and track and field in Bulldog Stadium. The terrace will also be utilized as a meeting place for students as well as company events and alumni functions and reunions.

 

 

 

First Floor
The first floor is flanked with many entrances. Notice the separate entrances for the men’s and women’s lockers. Student athletes can enter and exit the playing fields from separate entrances, as well as separate entrances from the stairwell leading to the second floor workout facilities. The coaches offices will feature work stations for all coaches to use when their sport is in season, The long hallway on the first floor leads to the mens bathrooms and showers. The training room is flanked by a hot/ cold tub room for help to speed up the healing of injuries. Over-sized Laundry facilities will also double as uniform storage. The Equipment managers area will feature a work space and storage space for hard equipment. The 8 ft roll up door will allow the sports golf cart to be stored inside the facility. The men’s and women’s locker rooms will feature all the necessities to support the well being of the student athletes.
